Our Summer Spectacular weekend took place from 9th - 11th June where our lucky members were treated to two nights of food and entertainment.
The weather shone on us all weekend and luckily for the first time ever we were serving ice-cream for dessert on Saturday to help cool people down.
After a long wait, due to Covid, we finally got to see Ultimate Elton and The Rocket Band perform on Friday night, following a Pie and Pea supper. Their first set had more of Sir Elton's Ballard songs with the second set being more upbeat enticing people onto the dance floor.
After basking in the sunshine on Saturday, our Club Members enjoyed a fun packed evening of entertainment on Saturday night. Following food service, consisting of Chilli and Rice and the aforementioned Ice-Cream, we had time for a couple of games of Bingo. It's always amazing to see how a full showroom can become so quiet such is the level of concentration. The hilarious Bobby Davro took to the stage after a short break and proved to be as funny as ever, he must have been good as he received a standing ovation! The entertainment then switched to music, with Jump performing their Countdown to the 80s act...who can resist dancing to those classic 80s tunes! With costume changes throughout, they gave a truly polished performance. The Pet Shop Boys' Go West had to be the highlight with the comedy surrounding the silver pointed hat. Andy Jackson, our renowned Compere and DJ finally managed a few tracks...we'll hear more from him next time.
