    Summer Spectacular
    11th July 2014
Brownhills Summer Spectacular event took place from 20th - 22nd June with overnight campers parked both on-site and at Smeaton's Lakes www.smeatonslakes.co.uk, approximately 2.5 miles from the Newark site.
With the Newark Festival www.newarkfestival.co.uk taking place the same weekend the town was a hub of activity and customers were keen to jump on the courtesy minibuses to go and see what the town had to offer.
The booking line closed 10 days prior to the event commencing once maximum numbers were reached, although a reserve list was kept to fill any cancellation spaces. The Summer Spectacular event was open to Brownhills Club Members only, people who have purchased their motorhome from Brownhills. Membership stays with customers for as long as they own the motorhome.
Following a Pie and Pea supper on Friday night the audience was treated to a performance from the band Sons and Lovers who returned to Brownhills following a successful performance in 2013. Sons and Lovers delighted customers once again with the majority of tracks from the 50s and 60s.
Saturday gave customers the chance to relax in the sunshine, play outdoor games on site, meet and chat with other Club Members or visit the historical town centre of Newark. Table top stalls were held in the main Showroom.
The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance provided their trailer and volunteers to talk through the work the charity does and giving the chance to buy merchandise helping to raise much needed funds. Brownhills selected the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance as their Charity of the Year for 2014 and are pleased to announce that with the help of a raffle on Saturday night that £1000 was raised for the charity. A huge thank you to all the Club Members who purchased raffle tickets.
Throughout the day on Saturday passers by found that their taste buds were being tantalised with the smell of the Hog Roast cooking for Saturday night's dinner. ALS Group ensured that the large quantity of pork kept rotating from 9am in the morning ready for food service at 6:30pm.
The Hog Roast dinner was well received by all event attendees as was the Apple Crumble served for dessert. Towards the end of the meal service, guests were captivated by a performance from Dance Mania, winners of Newark's Got Talent. Dance Mania, a group of school aged children, put their nerves aside and stepped onto the dance floor like true professionals. Roger de Courcey, the headline act then took to the stage with the irrepressible Nookie Bear joining him for a section of his performance. Guests ended the night with a disco from DJ and Compere Andy Jackson who never fails to entertain.
Thank you to all those who attended our Summer Spectacular and helped make it a weekend to remember.
