    Tax Disc Abolition
    5th September 2014

The DVLA have introduced significant and important changes to the way vehicles will be taxed from 1st October 2014, both for dealers such as Brownhills and for individuals.
From 1st October 2014, the paper tax disc will no longer need to be displayed on a vehicle windscreen. If you have a tax disc with any months left to run after this date, then it can be removed from the windscreen and destroyed. This includes people with a Northern Ireland address, however, they will still need to display their MOT disc.
All vehicles will still need to be taxed from 1st October but no paper tax discs will be received for display purposes.
The changes made also cover vehicle transfer. Vehicle tax will no longer be transferable from one keeper to another. From 1st October 2014, whenever a second hand vehicle is purchased it will be unlicensed due to the change in law. All new keepers will be responsible for taxing the vehicle immediately and before the vehicle can be used.
